Dr Peter R Kisenge
Dear Delegates, Partners, and Colleagues, On behalf of the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI), it is my privilege to extend a heartfelt welcome to CardioTan Imaging 2026. This conference is convened with a clear and urgent mission: to transform the landscape of cardiac care across Africa by tackling its most fundamental challenge, the critical gap in accessible, timely, and accurate cardiac diagnosis. We believe the path to overcoming this lies in our theme: ‘Smart Imaging for Stronger Hearts.’
The CardioTan 2026 theme is designed to be a response addressing delayed cardiac diagnosis, which remains a significant barrier to positive patient outcomes, often disproportionately affecting communities served by primary, district, and regional level hospitals.
Our program is built not only to advance the frontiers of imaging technology but to ensure these advancements empower the entire health system. We will focus on building imaging capacity at all levels and fostering sustainable solutions that allow hospitals to leverage specialised expertise, bringing diagnostic support directly to where patients are.
We believe that by bringing together cardiologists, radiologists, biomedical engineers, IT specialists, and policymakers, we are building a coalition for change. CardioTan Imaging 2026 is more than a conference; it is a commitment to building a stronger, more connected, and equitable cardiac care network for all.
Welcome to Dar es Salaam. Let us work together to make this vision a reality.Dr Peter Kisenge, MD, Mmed, MSc Cardiology (FCCA)
